What I did was slide the tranny under car then used 2 ratchet straps placed under tranny attached to torsion bars and ratcheded the tranny up enough to slide jack under it.ĭid exactly the same thing using my trailer ratchet straps. I had to slide the tranny under the car and then try to lift it onto the jack stand under the car and that wasnt easy at all I tried using my floor jack when I put my trans in last year. That means if you are doing a 727 (like I would be doing) the car needs some hellacious hjack stands in order to get the car up high enough to be able to slide the tranny on the jack under the car. that makes the transmission sit higher off the ground in the fully down position.
its about 5 to 6" off the ground to start with. the problem i can see is the height of the floor jacks base. I know I would never want to lug a trans into a car, work laying on the back is a PITA at the best of times. Lift the oil pump to the correct height with the floor jack. Rolls smoothly under hoisted vehicle, making it easy to remove or install any. Put transmission oil and scavenge pump ( 1 ) in position on a block and a floor jack. The frame of the car wont lift because it is strapped to the jack, so the jack will hold the lower A arm in place. You may want to use padding so the finish on your suspension parts doesnt get scratched. Anyone ever try one of them? I've been thinking about buying one. Durable steel, dipped finish, and 49.6 inches to 68.7 inches high lift range. Next, pump the handle of the floor jack so it rises up against the lower A arm. A lot cheaper than doing a dedicated trans jack. They make adapters to turn your hydraulic floor jack into a trans jack.
